I get a lot of calls about dirty grout or caulking around tubs.

It’s actually pretty important to keep in good shape. It’s not just for the look, either. Caulking seals water from behind the tub. And grouting does the same for the tile. If you have loose grout, water can sneak behind the tile and eventually degrade the backing.

And you can’t just apply new grout or caulking over the old stuff. That just seals in mildew, or creates a bad adhesive so the caulking can’t work.
To do a proper job, the old grout and caulk needs to be completely removed. It takes a lot of work. Once that’s done, the new application is easy.
